About Me

I write about science and how it affects people’s lives — in health and disease, in the environment, and in the lab. My work has appeared in STAT, WBUR, Science, Undark Magazine, the Norwalk Hour, and other publications.

Previously, I was a staff science writer at the Broad Institute of MIT and Harvard and a AAAS Mass Media Fellow at KQED. I hold a Ph.D. in materials science from Northwestern University, where I developed novel ways to study hard/soft interfaces in contexts ranging from sea urchins to brain cancer.

I'm currently based in Vancouver, BC.
